4 Small Apartment Layout Ideas With Muted Pastel Decor

These four gorgeous little apartment interiors are the work of visualiser Diễm Kiều. Each of these contemporary living spaces have been arranged in clever layouts that expertly deal with the challenges of living a full modern life within the confines of a compact space. Despite limited proportions, all four homes have enviable kitchens, sociable dining areas and cosy looking lounges. The colour palettes used throughout are calming and homey, with muted shades of blush pink, blue-grey and soft mint green. The pastel hues have been teamed with monochrome tiling in the kitchen areas, where splashbacks and floor tiles bring in expanses of on trend intricate pattern and cool geometric design.

Despite the limited proportions of this cosy lounge area, a large wall clock decorates a grey feature wall, which tricks the mind into believing the space is more substantial. The gold living room pendant light stands out beautifully against the grey backdrop and is complemented by the golden wood tones of a central coffee table, the couch base and the neighbouring dining table and chairs.

In tune with the golden sheen of the living room light, a duo of globe pendant lights have an amber tinted sheen over the dining table. To zone the dining area, wood panelling has been applied to the wall and painted a gentle blush pink. The same shade has been applied to a boxed wall shelf that holds just a couple of decorative jugs and plates.

One of the Scandinavian style chairs have been made black to add a splash of panache to the wooden dining set.

The home entryway sees a return of the mid-grey shade that covers the sofa wall. An attractive unit with a debossed arch design offers some storage space, along with a set of three decorative wall hooks.

Blush and grey kitchen cabinets with monochrome wall and floor tiling make a stunning combination.

The cooking space is small but perfectly formed.

Our second living space utilises the same modern chandelier as the first. This time the gold light hangs in front of traditional wainscoting that has been given a modern dual tone paint treatment that uses white on the upper quarter and grey over the lower portion. The same large wall clock also makes an appearance here, peeping out from behind a contemporary floor lamp. This colour scheme incorporates greenery from house plants, which carries over into a green coloured sofa.

A white a grey coffee table duo echo the shades of the dual tone feature wall behind the sofa. Wooden drawers warm the look of a grey console unit beneath the TV.

More indoor house plants liven up the kitchen diner.

Dining pendant lights are reflected in two round mirrors behind the dining table. The mirrors add a perception of extra depth and light to the small dining zone, and act as a visual anchor for the centrally placed eating spot.

Three different chair designs have been used at the four place dining table to form a more organically acquired eclectic feel.

The kitchen has pale blue-grey cabinetry, cut through with an intricate black and white tile backsplash.

Gold pans and utensils plus a wooden chopping board and crate warm the look of the cool kitchen.

A black storage unit has been fixed at a right angle to the entry door to form a small hallway.

This third apartment design has a window seat beneath the lounge windows, in place of full height glass. The window seat is used as a bookcase in the space formed beneath. A fretwork panel makes a feature of the wall behind a small grey sofa, beside a painting mounted off-centre. The warm earthy tone of a live edge coffee table is matched by a single tawny scatter cushion on the sofa, and a rattan planter on the bench.

More autumnal shades appear in wall art on the opposite side of the room, and in the wooden TV console unit.

A set of venetian blinds have been hung between the side of the sofa and the door as a cosy room divider.

A narrow dining table runs straight up against the kitchen bench and can seat up to six people.

The extendable dining table can be partially pushed away into the kitchen bench when less space is needed for dinner guests.

White wall units brighten the upper half of a modern wooden kitchen.

Monochrome geometric tiles cover the kitchen backsplash and floor, whilst wooden flooring is applied over the rest of the living space.

A traditional grey painted cabinet stands tall in the home entryway, storing crockery in the top and shoes in its base.

In the last of these four home designs, the vertical space above the television is utilised to store books and papers. A few house plants decorate the open shelves. Beneath the TV a wall mounted console holds a couple more plants and books, a clock and a metallic table lamp.

The dining table is surrounded by green painted glass fronted cupboards, which display ceramic jugs, plants and books. Upper cabinets and a set of side shelves are white in contrast.

The kitchen base units are the same soft mint green as the dining room cabinets, with white wall cupboards.

Two unique kitchen pendant lights hang over a wooden breakfast bar and kitchen bar stools.
