Do you want to decorate for Halloween, but it feels like every time you walk into the Halloween store all you see are horrifying, blood-sucking bats hanging from the ceiling and a bin of plastic severed feet? Maybe you’re the type of person who likes Halloween, just not the gory side of it. You may even love Halloween, as long as it stays in the cute Halloween decorating category. There’s nothing wrong with that. There’s no reason you should have to fight your gag reflex as you decorate your home for Halloween. Below are decorating ideas for getting a cute Halloween full of good, clean fun.

Make banners out of classy black, orange and white fabric
This idea has a Halloween vibe while staying away from any distinct, scary imagery. If you don’t want your home covered in ghouls, witches and monsters, focus on your color scheme. Any fabric with Halloween colors, whether it’s a Halloween-themed fabric or not, can be cut into a triangle banner shape and attached to a string for hanging, as the photo above shows. The burlap bows add a rustic harvest theme to the banner, as well.

Use subtle pieces with fun words
Another idea for cute Halloween decorating is to find items that have fun Halloween-themed words on them. You get the Halloween spirit without having to go for more traditional scary images. For instance, the vase in the photo above reads “Boo” with a fall ribbon tied around it.
Your possibilities are endless. You can easily go to the craft store to buy individual pre-cut letters and attach them to anything. A picture frame could have the phrase “Trick-or-Treat” on it. Or a plastic pumpkin could read “Happy Halloween.” Half the fun is seeing how creative you can get.

Make doll scenes for cute Halloween decorating
If you’re going for cute Halloween decorating, remember the plush pieces. Nothing turns terrifying to cute like an adorable plush doll. Case in point is the scene in the photo above with a friendly mummy, a cute Frankenstein’s monster and an adorable witch, to name a few of the characters.
A full menagerie of plush monsters is a great way to dress up a windowsill or a mantel. If you can have a silhouette background, it adds to the fun scene. You can make the plush dolls yourself or buy them in practically every store around Halloween.

Make a cute Halloween mantel
Speaking of mantels, creating a Halloween display over your fireplace is a good way to get some cute Halloween decorating into your home. As the photo above shows, larger Halloween figures make great additions on either side of the fireplace. The Happy Halloween wreath hangs well over the mantel. The cute “Boo to you!” saying create a playful feel. Fun Halloween houses on either side of the mantel add balance to the theme.
In the middle of the mantel, you can add whatever cute or slightly creepy thing appeals to you in the Halloween decor aisle. Since this idea is so customizable, you can go completely cute or add a little bit of creepiness, depending on your tastes.

Use artistic witch figures
One of the best parts of Halloween is finding all of the creative doll figures for sale. These witches are a good example. They’re a design from Mark Roberts and are for sale at Grandin Road. The smiling faces, twisted hats and elaborate dresses give a distinctly fun, friendly witch feel.
Finding other witch figurines is a good way to go for some cute Halloween decorating. Stores are full of friendly plush witch dolls, smiling witch rag dolls and other fun figures. You might also consider looking at licensed figures, like Pop Vinyl Harry Potter characters, as part of your cute Halloween theme.
