Ardesia Design completed the renovation of a mansion block apartment in Maida Vale, London. The 970 square-foot-home initially had three bedrooms, a small living space, and a bathroom. A contemporary upgrade was in order to bring this eclectic London apartment to life.
“Following the brief, we connected one of the bedrooms with the existing living room to create a big open-plan transversal living area with dining,” the architects said. “One of the small storage rooms became an en-suite bathroom.”
Parisian apartments and Mediterranean houses inspired the redesign. “Plastered white arched joinery across the flat evoke seaside houses on an island in Greece and bespoke molded bedroom and wardrobes’ doors could easily bring your imagination to one of those elegant flats in Paris,” the architects added.
The color palette was kept simple, with a soft white and gray background, spiced up by red and blue accents. In the kitchen, blue Moroccan cement tiles add a dynamic touch and continue the globally inspired them. A little bit of a rustic touch is added by the wooden tables and leather-armed chairs. Both bathrooms were finished in micro cement, for an original raw look. [Photos courtesy of Ardesia Design]
