This contemporary residence in Kansas City, Mo., was built by Hufft Projects to showcase the studio’s work and test prototypes. Covering 3,000 square feet, the Showhouse features an array of innovative materials and finishes inside and out. It also serves as the Hufft family home.
“While employing innovative design methods, the home aligns with the surrounding Roanoke neighborhood in its form, exterior materials and proportions,” the architects said. “With limestone, brick, cedar siding, ornamental ironwork and native grasses, the Showhouse is a contemporary take on a traditional building form.”
A courtyard hosts family gatherings and events. The need for socializing is met indoors by an open-plan living and dining area, merging traditional and contemporary details.
The interior design of this home is a study of rhythm and balance. Each room adds colors and textures to the overall scheme, yet the seamless connection between the spaces inspires harmony.
In the children’s bedrooms upstairs, the design becomes more playful. The innovative materials here include ceiling murals and wall stickers. Have a look at this home in Kansas City and let us know what you think! [Photography courtesy of Hufft Projects]
