La Casa de los Vientos was imagined as a contemporary holiday retreat for a four person family, three generations included. “The new project is approached as an answer to the place and the expectations of the users in terms of leisure, comfort and economical adjustment,” the architects at José Luis Muñoz Studio said.

Photographed by Javier Callejas, the residence in Cadiz, Spain comes in at 2,080 square feet and is structured on two levels. Its original shape was dictated by the orientation and the prevailing winds in the area.

The bedrooms and living areas are located at the ground floor, while the upper level accommodates two entertaining zones. “Porches, terraces, windbreak walls and balconies shape a volume offering outdoor spaces to be used all days of the year, depending on the direction of the winds,” the architects added. The shape and orientation of the swimming pool terrace protects it from strong winds.

A minimalist design scheme was chosen for the interiors; this ensures enough comfort and functionality for the family to enjoy their holiday escapes in the colorful city of Cadiz. [Information provided by José Luis Muñoz Studio]
