Cove Hollow, a project of Yankee Barn Homes, is located in East Hampton, New York. The project started as a way to build a structure between two existing buildings while maintaining the integrity of the surrounding environment. The design of the house is faithful to the time period of the neighborhood.
The home is built in a a hybrid of traditional styles. The two original buildings were in a shingle style and barn house style, and so the infill project had to merge the two styles while looking as natural as possible. The combination is pulled off seamlessly with a hybrid design of post and beam and non-timbered panel construction.
From start to finish, the structure was erected in 8 days, leaving as little impact as possible on the neighborhood. Several elements were prefabricated and assembled before being delivered to the construction site. The landscaping was left as untouched as possible; making it appear like the home had always been there.
