Apartment Renovation Brings Contemporary Style to Medieval Barcelona

stylish-dining

Anke and John Summerhill of Minotti London renovated an upscale apartment in Barrio Gotico, at the heart of medieval Barcelona.  The area is known for dark, narrow streets and historic architecture.  In contrast, the couple opened up this fourth floor space, giving it a contemporary look with lots of natural daylight.

Light wooden floors and white walls create a bright backdrop for this apartment’s contemporary style.  The kitchen flows easily into a stylish dining space, which is perfect for grabbing another bottle from the large wine fridge during dinner.

The dining area features a circular white marble table underneath a cool, molecular structure ceiling light in black and gold.  Its mix of light and dark neutrals continues in the adjacent sitting space, creating a warm, comfortable vibe.

The design preserved much of the structure’s character, while updating its look.  The Summerhills exposed original beams and brickwork in the living room, giving the contemporary space historic charm.  These touches connect the space to its stunning location.
