Renovated London Penthouse Exudes “New York Loft” Feel

Set in an old exchange building in Shoreditch, London, the latest Callender Howorth project involved the complete renovation of a spacious penthouse apartment. The owner’s brief requested a home that would feel like a New York loft; and so NYC’s desirable large spaces, high ceilings, and natural light instantly became the focus of the work.

“Starting from scratch, we took the walls back to bring this spectacular space up to date,” the architects said. “In places we left brickwork exposed to evoke the industrial feeling that is associated with loft apartments in the Big Apple. White colors and simplistic fittings imbue the space with a contemporary feel, while colorful, bold art pieces give character.”

The functional areas are divided by glass partitions, some with elegant steel framing. Despite the minimalist arrangements, you can find plenty of cozy corners that beckon guest to stay a while, relax and create.

“The desirable home is perfectly suited to its surroundings: Shoreditch is a young, trendy area, inhabited by an eclectic mix of people.
